Our School
Mission
We, the community of Carson School — students, Carson staff, parents, guardians, caregivers and the Price Hill Community — work in collaboration for our goal of academic excellence. We are committed to nurturing the spirit and development of each child and to educating each child for life. We expect each child to meet or exceed Cincinnati Public Schools' standards.
Carson School is a neighborhood school in the Cincinnati Public School district. We serve students from preschool through sixth grade.
Every Student
Students are the center of our work. We must know each student and build learning opportunities and webs of support so that every student reaches his or her highest potential.
We will hold high expectations for all students and create ways for students to meet them — both during the school day and beyond. We will enlist families and communities in this important work, and we will not rest until every student in this city is successful.
Every School
We believe that all students deserve to attend good schools. We will work to make sure every school in our district is high quality and a viable choice for our families.
Principals and teachers, families and the community will have the opportunity to create Community Learning Centers in each school to support not only academic learning, but the arts and recreation and whatever else is considered important to meet student, family, and community needs. The choices are endless in what these centers can become, if partners collaborate to maximize resources for students, families and neighborhoods.
Every Day
We, as a district, have the responsibility to ensure consistency of programs, constancy of purpose and equity across the district. We also have a responsibility to maintain the focus and momentum of this strategic plan.
Cincinnati Public Schools will engage our staff and community in the implementation of this work. Our district will create a monitoring and support mechanism to ensure that we stay on track.
Community Learning Centers
For our schools to transform, our communities must be revitalized. For our communities to revitalize, our schools must be transformed. They are dependent on each other and Community Learning Centers are the link.
What is a Community Learning Center (CLC)?
Schools and the communities they serve are closely linked. Seldom does one succeed without the success of the other. That's why our CLCs support student achievement, enrich and revitalize communities, and maximize the community's return on their financial investment.
We are very proud to be a CLC and a neighborhood anchor. We strive to go beyond academics to focus on the whole child by serving as a hub for community services that are available to all students, their families and the entire community. We are able to offer a variety of services thanks to the collaboration and support of our many partners and the committed community of Price Hill.
Our Resource Coordinator
Jamell Taylor is the Resource Coordinator for Carson School.
The key component of a CLC is the partners who provide services and support. To manage and align these valuable partnerships, our full-time, on-site Resource Coordinator, Jamell Taylor, plays an integral role in the success of the Community Learning Center.
To learn more about the services available at our school or how your company or organization can become a CLC partner or volunteer, please contact Jamell Taylor at (513) 363-9892 or via email.
Local School Decision-Making Committee (LSDMC)
LSDMC is a group of parents, teachers and community representatives. The group functions in an advisory role to the principal, to determine program, policy and budget issues for the school.
School Visits and Tours
We welcome visits from parents and guardians as well as prospective families who would like a tour. To protect student safety, all visitors must register in the office before going to the classroom. Parents/guardians who would like a conference with their child's teacher must schedule an appointment with the teacher.
Tours are also available on request. To schedule a tour, stop by our main office or call us at (513) 363-9800.
